Czech startups raised more than €213 million across 86 funding rounds in 2025, according to Dealroom data published through CzechInvest's CEE Funding Map. The figure gives the ecosystem a useful annual baseline, but the distribution of capital is more revealing than the total alone.
More than €110 million went into Series B and C rounds, while pre-seed funding totalled €11.2 million. That means a large share of disclosed capital was concentrated in companies already beyond the earliest stage.
Later-stage funding is a sign of maturity, but not enough on its own
A stronger Series B and C market is good evidence that Czech companies can continue raising after the first institutional cheque. It also helps create larger companies that can hire, export and eventually return capital to founders and investors.
The risk is that a healthy later-stage year can hide weakness at the bottom of the funnel. If pre-seed and new investor formation remain soft for several years, the ecosystem can end up with a strong current cohort but a thinner pipeline behind it.
The round count gives useful context
Eighty-six rounds in one year means the Czech market is not dependent on one or two outsized transactions. Even so, the funding distribution is likely to remain uneven because larger growth rounds can dominate annual totals.
CBR will therefore track funding value and round count separately. A rising total with fewer rounds tells a different story from broad-based growth across more companies.
What to watch in 2026
The most important next signals are whether pre-seed and seed activity recover, whether new investors enter the market and whether more Czech companies progress into Series B and later rounds.
That is why the permanent Czech Startup Ecosystem Tracker keeps annual funding, stage data, investor sentiment and ecosystem scale in one place rather than treating each statistic as a standalone success metric.
