What the research currently shows

Czechia Dealroom reported more than 1,700 funded Czech startups and more than 650 investors in July 2026, giving the tracker a defensible ecosystem universe rather than an arbitrary company list.

Dealroom data cited by CzechInvest put combined Czech startup ecosystem value at about $18.1bn, with Prague above $13.8bn.

Czech startups raised more than €213m across 86 investment rounds in 2025, including €11.2m at pre-seed and more than €110m at Series B and C.

CzechInvest reported Czechia at 32nd globally in StartupBlink's 2026 country ranking and tied 19th of 22 in the 2025 ESNA Startup Nations Standards assessment, two different methodologies that should not be merged into one ranking.

Questions this dataset is built to answer

  • How large is the Czech funded-startup universe?
  • How much capital is being raised and at which stages?
  • How is ecosystem value distributed between Prague, Brno and the rest of Czechia?
  • Which international rankings are methodologically comparable and which are not?

Czech-founded

Founded in Czechia or by founders whose company origin is clearly documented as Czech. Current headquarters may be elsewhere.

Czech-linked

Material Czech operating, R&D or institutional connection without implying Czech founding.

Funded startup

Company represented in the Czechia Dealroom funded-company universe; this is not the same as every active startup.

Scaleup

Used only where the underlying source defines or quantifies the scale threshold.

Source hierarchy

  1. Primary official sources, company filings, regulator publications and operator disclosures are preferred for factual dataset records.
  2. High-quality wire reporting or specialist trade reporting with an explicit attributable source trail may be used where it adds a dated physical-project fact not available in a practical first-party source.
  3. Secondary press, estimates and promotional claims are not promoted into dataset facts unless their status and provenance are clearly labelled.

Data quality controls

  • Observation date and publication date are kept distinct where the underlying fact is time-sensitive.
  • Announced, planned, under-construction and operating states are not collapsed into one status.
  • Parent programme IDs distinguish child-site milestones from wider investment programmes so nested values are not silently double counted.
  • Reported results, management guidance, analyst opinions and policy targets remain separate evidence classes.
  • Missing values remain missing rather than being filled with inferred or modelled estimates.
  • Historical observations preserve earlier stated values and milestones rather than silently replacing them with the newest figure.
  • Material revisions are recorded so later updates do not erase the historical basis of an earlier observation.
Revision history

8 Sep 2026: added Czechia Dealroom universe, 2025 funding-stage data, ecosystem value and explicit separation of StartupBlink and ESNA ranking methodologies.

Evidence timeline

These dated observations preserve additional evidence about how investment commitments, project stages, regulatory milestones and ecosystem measures changed over time. They are not treated as additional current totals. Where a later disclosure supersedes an earlier figure, both observations remain visible with their dates and source context.

Dataset methodology

Scope

Czech-founded technology companies, major Czech technology operations and institutions materially shaping the startup ecosystem.

Inclusion criteria

Entries require a clear Czech origin, substantial Czech operating presence or institutional role supported by primary evidence.

Exclusions and limitations

A company is not labelled Czech-founded merely because it hires in Czechia. Funding and valuation figures are only added when tied to a dated source.

Revision policy

Ownership, headquarters and funding events are versioned rather than silently replacing historical context.

Reuse and attribution
